How to apply for college scholarship in the Philippines – CHED?

September 3, 2011 45 Comments

I have been receiving emails on how to apply for scholarship in the Philippines in my post about Scholarship grants in the Philippines. There are links included in that post but some would really want a detailed information on how to apply. Let me share a detailed information on how to apply for scholarship under CHED (Commission on Higher Education) here in the Philippines. The details are posted on their website and I just add helpful links and details. I updated this post as of April 17, 2015 to help deserving students with the scholarship. This is still under scholarship program but now called CHED Student Financial Assistance Programs (StuFAPs).

How to apply for college scholarship in the Philippines – CHED?

  1. Before you apply for the scholarship, check the qualifications for CHED sholarship if you are qualified.
  2. Check if your course fits in the CHED priority courses.
  3. Download the application form at CHED Scholarship application Form/CHED Student Financial Assistance Programs (StuFAPs).
  4. Fill up the application form.
  5. Submit the accomplished CHED StuFAPs Application, together with pertinent documentary requirements, directly to the CHED Regional Office concerned. Applicants who intend to enroll in State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) shall directly submit their application to the concerned SUCs to your CHED respective regional offices.

The application in the year 2011 was scheduled last March 1, 2011 to April 29, 2011 so possibly these maybe the dates to apply yearly but it would still be depending on CHED. Please visit their website at http://www.ched.gov.ph for more details.

    Hi Lawrence,

I think its best to apply between March to April next year since the application for this year has ended. You may also call the nearest CHED regional office for other inquiries you have at http://www.ched.gov.ph/chedwww/index.php/eng/Contact-Us/CHED-Regional-Office-Directory
    Good Luck!

      Hi Gel,

I believe that the best way for your cousin to finish 4th year High School is to enroll in a public school then after that he can apply for college scholarship. You may ask your barangay community also if there are scholarship for High School Students,

itatanong ko lang po, kung may iba pa po kayong scholarship grants.
and kahit po ba hindi ka kasali sa top ten as long as 85 above ang general average ay pwede po bang mka avail ng full scholar?? and 90 po ang ENCAE result.

      Hi Joyce,

If you are in Metro Manila, you can also inquire at FEATI, Central Colleges of the Philippines (CCP) and Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP). I believe they accept students looking for scholarship. Please visit their website or call them. Even if you are not in the top ten, you can inquire because some may give you a discount or scholarship if you will be a student assistant in the school.

Yes I think it is allowed. It is best to coordinate with the nearest CHED office in your place.

      Hi Lovely,

It would be best if you will coordinate to the nearest CHED office in your area or you can go directly to your congressional district office to inquire. Scholarship grants are limited so it is best to coordinate with them as early as you can.

      Hi Chin Chin,

You can actually download the form at the link provided in step 2. If you are still waiting for the completion of your requirements, you can still apply for the scholarship on the second sem but it is truly depending on your congressional office if they still have slots available.

      Hi Angel,

I think it depends on your scholarship terms. During my college days, one of my classmate has two different scholarships. I think it would be best to have just one so that you can give a chance to other students like you because scholarship are very limited especially when it came from the government.

      Hi Marc,

I think you can try to inquire about Study Now Pay later of CHED but I think I am not sure if they are still accepting applicants. Normally they accept the processing before the school year… You can also try to be a working student.
