How to claim your SSS maternity benefits in the Philippines?

June 6, 2013 16 Comments

It was my first time to claim my SSS maternity benefit a couple of months ago. Before you can claim your SSS maternity benefits, the SSS member should submit a Maternity Notification which I did through SSS Maternity online application. I gave birth via caesarian section last December 2012 and I have submitted my SSS Form MAT-2 (Maternity Reimbursement) on the last week of January 2013.

Being registered in the My.SSS online service portal, it is very convenient to access your SSS account profile. The information under your account provide details such as the status of your maternity benefits so it’s a relief when you wanted to see the status of your benefit claim.

How to access your SSS maternity benefit claim?

To access your SSS maternity benefit claim, you should login first to My.SSS online service portal.  Click Online Inquiry then under benefits, click on Maternity Benefits. The page will show the Maternity Claim History. The picture below is the actual maternity benefit status of my Maternity benefit claim. As you can see the status “Settled” means that your Maternity benefit claim was approved and in a week after the status date, I already received my SSS Maternity check and voucher.

Since I am a work-at-home mom, I am paying my SSS contribution voluntarily. I decided pay my monthly contribution for only Php 572. The amount of my SSS maternity benefit claim is not the big but it is very helpful for moms like me.

If you are planning to apply for SSS maternity benefits claim, you can read my experience of how I easily apply through SSS maternity benefits online application in the Philippines.

      Hi Charisse,

You’re welcome! To claim for your check, I think you can ask you close relative in the Philippines to file a claim for you but they will be needing – birth certificate of the baby, medical certificate from the hospital where you gave birth, and authorization letter. It is best if your representative is your mom or mom-in-law and they could ask SSS personally for other matters about your concern.

        Hi Lory,

Yes po. It would take months before ka ma-received that was year 2012 pa. I think SSS have a new system na po so better ask for assistance sa kanila.

      Hi Jhaja,

In my case kasi, settled status date ko is March 6, 2013 yun din ang nakalagay sa date ng check. If wala pa rin pinapadala ang SSS, better go to the nearest SSS branch to follow- up and bring your claim reference.

      Hi Camille,

I think yung website ng SSS for membership is not that updated pa so better po na directly go to the nearest SSS office. Mas maganda maaga then ask for a reference sa transactions mo sa kanila para for follow-up madali i-trace.
