When cooking soup, I love to add Asparagus vegetable. It is because Asparagus is very easy to prepare and cook. There is a great health benefits in eating Asparagus vegetable. The history of Asparagus said to be in a member of the lily family that comes from the Greek word meaning “shoot” or “sprout.” Asparagus is believed to have originated 2,000 years ago in the eastern Mediterranean region which is now cultivated widely throughout the world.

Asparagus Health Benefits
There are three types of Asparagus: Green (most common), Purple (smaller and fruitier), and white (difficult to harvest). The photo above is a green type. Here in the Philippines the approximate price of Asparagus per bundle is Php108. I bought it from SM supermarket. The cost of bigger Asparagus is lower compared to smaller ones.

According to some articles I’ve read Asparagus affects the urine with a foetid smell. When I ate Asparagus I did not notice unpleasant smell in my urine. One thing is for sure that Asparagus have good health benefits, good to consider in soup and any other quick dish menu.
