Revamping Your Home Quite a Long Time: How To Do This In A Budget Friendly Way

February 21, 2019 Leave a Comment

The purchasing of a home for most people is the largest investment they will make in their lifetime. Allowing this investment to go unmaintained is not wise and in addition could end up compounding problems that are already present. There is a misconception that revamping your home is going to cost thousands of dollars which can be tough to afford for those on a tight budget. Certain projects if it is a large renovation can be expensive while others make a small change that impacts the feel of a room completely. The following are ways to revamp the home in order to keep it updated without breaking the budget.

Social Media Can Help You Come Up With Ideas

Social media is the perfect place to try to find ideas of how you can revamp a room or add flair to a wall. Pinterest is full of DIY projects with many of them using things like pallets in order to make a garden look more organized or using a stencil to add positive sayings on the wall. Even platforms like YouTube can be a huge help as some DIY projects have step by step video instructions so even a person that is not handy can complete it successfully. Try searching a few different related hashtags to see what each social media platform has to offer in terms of inspiration.

Find Affordable Furniture

Updating the furniture in a room can allow a room to look new without having to update something like flooring which is incredibly expensive. The room where the entertainment center is should have comfortable seating as many families convene to watch movies or sporting events. Peter Goldberg, the CEO of Bouclair notes “Areas that are used for entertainment can double when you have a party or company over which demands comfortable seating.” Going online to find the perfect couch can be quite easy but avoid certain brands that ask for a high price but deliver little in terms of quality.

Updating Décor For Your Teen

There will come a time when your teen wants to update the décor in their room to make it look less like a child’s room. A coat of paint at times is all your teen will want to do or putting up pictures/posters of bands or celebrities that they adore. Teens can be quite crafty so set a budget for them and see how much they can get done for that amount. You might find that they could be a huge help when redecorating a room or accessorizing a space to give it a different feel. The bedroom is a haven for many teens so they should be as comfortable as possible while they are in there. Converting the garage into another bedroom can offer the privacy that a teen craves while opening up their current room for an office space.

Investing In New Curtains

Investing in the right types of curtains can allow you to darken a room far easier and can improve quality of sleep. The right color curtains can make a room look much more elegant without an excessive price tag. There are child friendly curtains and blinds that can be used as well which reduce the likelihood of a child choking themselves or being tangled in long cords. You will have to do accurate measuring of windows as the last thing you want is the curtains dragging on the floor. Installation is easy as all you will need to do is drill a few holes to hang up the curtains.

New Lighting Can Change A Room’s Energy

Creating a brighter space in a room can completely change a room’s energy. Installing new windows is unbelievably expensive with people having to spend a few thousand dollars at a minimum. For this reason putting in new lighting can do the same job in brightening the room. The only drawback is that this is not natural light but a brighter room can feel cleaner. Modern lighting helps accentuate clean lines that are associated with this style. People do not want to sit in the dark during the day for the most part so change this in your home today!

Small Updates In The Bathroom

Replacing a sink is far more affordable than many people think and can make a huge difference. Old sinks can have quite a bit of wear and tear with grout that makes a germophobe shutter. Take a look where the water is running under the sink to make sure there are no leaks leading to rot and mold. Installing something small like new bathmats or area rugs in the bathroom can allow for a nonslip stylish look.

With a few quick projects your home that was looking dated could have a new feel. Take the time to assess what you need to improve then put a plan into action!
