7th Grade Homeschool Portfolio for Q2

February 16, 2021 Leave a Comment

Cowabunga! I’m happy that my son completed his homeschool portfolio for quarter two. Now, he continues to review for the preparation of his quarter Masteral Exam. I have mentioned in my previous post that I homeschool my children. It was our first year.

Beginning the portfolio with Arts and Crafts.

The Holy Family Drawing

The Holy Family Art Using Oil Pastel

The theme of his drawing art is “The Holy Family“. It is actually Christmas season when he started working on this drawing and completed it before Christmas. He uses Oil pastel for the blending of colors. According to his art instructor, the Pentel Pen brand is an excellent brand to consider.  I have noticed that his drawing skills improved blending colors.

We enrolled him in a drawing online class at Ink and Easel Art Class.

Musical Arts

My son initially played piano when he was seven years old. We have a 6-octaves keyboard at home, which he uses to practice. First, he is just playing easy notes. He is good at memorization and can easily play simple notes just by listening to the music. He was able to play and did some recitals with the help of Venas Kairos Tutorial Center in Piano lesson. Currently, we enrolled him in Yupangco Music Academy to broaden his notes reading. The piano medley he played is his entry to Homeschool Got Talent.

Physical Education: Basketball Sports

Basketball is one of his favorite sports. Since it is pandemic, he just used a single court and practice at home. He did some training before in basketball that is why it was easy for him to recall the moves. Thankful to the Milo Sports Clinic uploaded on YouTube because we make it our reference. He did warm-up, drills, dribbling drills, and stationary shooting.

Movie Analysis: Jingle Jangle

For the movie analysis, he picked Jingle Jangle. It was a great family movie on Netflix. We watched it during the Christmas season. The movie is magical. Well, according to my son, Jingle Jangle (2020) is recommendable for you if you are interested in a gears and shafts steampunk-themed movie.

Computer Literacy: Infographic

We just made a light activity for computer literacy. After researching all about nutrition and calories for good health, he made an infographic. See Home economics. He compiled the infographic using the Powerpoint Presentation submitted to our school provider.

Oral Report: The Difference between Plant and Animal Cell.

He loves Science subject. For his oral report, he opted to choose the lesson about plant and animal cell.

Science Laboratory Activity: Examining Animal Cells

In examining animal cell, he uses his human cheek cell. We are actually wondering if it is possible. With limited resources, we are glad we made it. He is patient in observing the cell. Through this activity, he found out that cheek cell is Eukaryotic.

Home Economics: Calories and Nutrition

Health is important. For Home economics, I let him research about calories in food and related nutrition for healthy living. In the photo below is a recommended Daily Calorie intake by age group.

Finally, we are done with my eldest son’s 7th Grade Homeschool Portfolio. Looking forward to Quarter 3.
