Drypers diaper jumbo pack review

Drypers diaper jumbo pack

Drypers diaper jumbo pack

Three weeks ago I joined a giveaway contest by a fellow mommy blogger and the prize is Drypers diaper. I was one of the lucky winners of Drypers jumbo pack diaper.

I received the shipment of Drypers diaper jumbo pack containing 48 pieces on Large size last week. Before I blog about it, I decided to test and use it first for my little boy who is three years old. Since he is already a toddler, I am starting to teach him to use the potty whenever he wants to urinate and poopoo. But, I still prefer to let him wear diaper at night when we stroll outside.

I tested the drypers diaper  to my son for almost a week and I can say that the diaper is so soft and its true that the baby’s skin even drier. It is very convenient to use for the baby and toddler because the diaper is fitted and my son felt like he is not wearing diaper at all due to dryness. The texture of Drypers diaper is cottony, soft and smooth making your baby happily comfortable. It also has a magic tape that you can adjust to make sure that its fitted. Lastly, drypers diaper is stylish and fashionable with its cute animals design printed on the diaper.

Thank you Drypers for the giveaway prize  through the giveaway contest hosted by my fellow mommy blogger at mommysurvival.info.

Baby care: Weaning and First Foods

As our baby grows, milk alone will not be enough to sustain him. Usually most babies will need extra nourishment from around 4-6 months old which is a good time to start. In my experience with my baby, I started to give him infant cereals at the age of 5 months.

What is Weaning?

Weaning is the gradual move by your baby from milk feeds to ultra-smooth purées, then to coarser purées, until he is fully joining in with family meals at around 12 months of age.

Signs that your baby is ready for weaning:

  • Baby is watching you as you eat.
  • Baby seems hungry and wants a feed, even though he has been in a routine of full feeds from both breasts or a 250ml (8fl oz).
  • Baby is beginning to chew his hands constantly and trying to put or chew a lot of things into his mouth.

Always start with very bland solids first. I remember the first food that I prepared for my baby is the milk-mixed infant cereals. Choose a soft, tiny, shallow sterile plastic baby spoon and small non-breakable plates and bowls for first solid food metals.

Preparation of first food

  • Milk-mixed infant cereals - follow the infant cereal preparation from the indicated instructions from the box usually 1/2 to 1 bowl of infant cereal then add formula milk for at least 1 tablespoon or instead of using water to mix the infant cereals replace it with the breast milk/ formula milk.
  • Baby rice (sold in powdered form) – is one of the easiest and comforting first food. Mix 1 teaspoonful of powdered rice with expressed breast milk, made-up formula milk or cooled boiled water until it is a smooth, slightly sloppy purée.
  • Am baby rice (traditional first food preparation for babies in the Philippines) - popularly known the traditional first food preparation for babies here in the Philippines. Before cooking the rice, put extra water(about a cup) from the water level that you regularly prepare for your rice cooking , cook the rice then take a 1/2 or 1 bowl of extra rice water while it is still in heat cooking or when the rice was almost about to be cooked and the texture of the extra rice water on top of the pot is sloppy. The Am can be mix with breast milk or formula milk.

What to do when your baby or child has a diarrhea?

Diarrhea is the condition of having three or more loose or liquid bowel movements per day. Vomiting and Diarrhea may be caused by foods that are hard for your child to digest (such as sugar or by bacteria in undercooked meat). The main complication of diarrhea is dehydration and electrolyte imbalances due to the loss of fluids so if your baby or child is experiencing this, parents like us should better monitor our child condition to avoid dehydration.

I would like to share these simple information for all especially parents for our awareness in taking care of our little ones.

Signs of dehydration:

  • dry mouth
  • dry rough skin
  • pale skin color especially in palms
  • loss of appetite
  • sunken fontanelle (soft spot) in babies (It is normal for babies to have a slightly depressed fontanelle, so this sign is only helpful if you know what is normal for your child.)
  • reduced urine production

To prevent dehydration, it is better to give your child Oral Rehydration Solution/ Salts like Pedialyte. Pedialyte 45 helps manage mild to moderate dehydration while Pedialyte 90 is for moderate to severe dehydration. Pedialyte 45 is available in unflavored, fruit and bubble gum flavors so your child will surely like it.

Foods to feed when your child has a diarrhea

When our child has a diarrhea, we should give them bland foods for the first 24 hours. These foods are not chemically or mechanically irritating, no-gas causing foods (beans, broccoli, cabbage, etc.), nothing fried or high fat, no pepper or spice and low fiber. Avoid foods with lots of sugar and fats. It’s best to avoid dairy products for 3 to 7 days.

Bland Foods

  • Fresh Bananas
  • Fresh Apple
  • saltine crackers
  • rice or porridge
  • Baked/ roasted chicken

When to call for doctor?

If your baby or child has a diarrhea accompanied by a high fever of more than 38.5 degrees Celsius, had abdominal pain for more than 2 hours, had blood in his stools or in her/his  vomit, unusually sleepy it is best to call your doctor about it. You may also observe the color of the stool if it is greenish that may be signs for protozoal/bacterial infection or the worst Amebiasis. It is recommended to have the stool for a laboratory examination for proper diagnosis by the doctor.

How to prevent diarrhea?

A clean environment and good sanitation will prevent diarrhea. Most infections that cause diarrhea are caused by a virus found in feces. We can help prevent infection by disposing of dirty diapers properly and by washing your hands after changing a diaper or going to the bathroom. We have to make sure that our child washes his or her hands frequently, especially after going to the bathroom or after picking up dirty things.

Suggested toys for babies one to four months

  • Light, brightly colorful toys with shapes – Before baby can manipulate toys or even recognize faces he or she will like to lie and look up at colorful moving things
  • A string of rattle beads on elastic above the cot – will introduce him or her in using his hands for playing. A very small baby will probably spend a lot of time in a carry-cot.
  • Peek-a-boo with his reflections at the mirror – Babies often like to look at themselves at the mirror although it will take them a while to understand who they are seeing! Mommy should hold the mirror then the baby can look from mirror to mommy (be sure it’s the same person) and then he may start to play peek-a-boo.

First Four Months Baby Care

These are the most challenging months for me. After giving birth, the very important task of a mother is feeding his child. Because I gave birth via a caesarian section (CS), I was able to breast feed my baby after a day of my bed rest to make sure he gets the COLOSTRUM ( a thick yellow fluid, rich in protein, growth factors, and immune factors secreted by the mammary glands of all female mammals during the first few days of lactation).

FOR BREASTFEEDING

  • For better milk production, repeatedly massage the breast all around towards the nipple.
  • Apply warm compress to your breast so the milk flows easily.
  • If your breasts are full, it is best to empty them by expressing.
  • You can also take malunggay capsules to help you produce more milk. I recommend PRO-LACTA malunggay capsule, it is effective in my part.
  • You can also use breast pump if the flow of the milk is slow and you can store breast milk in a bottle with it.
  • Eat nutritious Foods. It is better to take meals with nutritious soup like Beef Soup with Veggies (Nilagang Baka), Tinolang manok and soup with seafood.

FOR BOTTLE FEEDING

  • The baby needs tiny feed from time to time. Normally the standard milk bottle preparation is one scoop  good for 1 fluid oz.
  • Make sure you have complete bottle feeding equipment such as sterilizing tank, tongs for removing teats, and brush for cleaning bottles, several bottles and teats.
  • Rinse the bottle and teats straight away after each feed.
  • Use a bottle brush to wash the bottles, jug in hot soapy water and rinse carefully in running water.
  • Rub Salt on both the inside and out of the teats to remove any milk or you can also dissolved salt in hot water with the teats. Rinse out thoroughly. (You can use a Glove to avoid allergic reactions from the salt).
  • Put the washed bottles and the teats into the sterilizing tank and make sure everything is submerged. Let it boil for at least 10- 15 minutes then remove the bottles and teats using tongs.  (sterilizing time for the bottles and teats depends on the kind of sterilizers, there are already high-tech sterilizing equipment)

Conserve water tips: You can use the sterile water for you and your baby’s bath.

  • In preparing for milk, you can use a mineral distilled water like Wilkins, Absolute or boiled water for bottle feeding.
  • Always prepare feeds when the baby is about to be fed and never make and keep feeds at a time and store it in a fridge.

Introduction to Baby Care

As a first time mom there are lots of new things to learn in taking care of the baby. When I gave birth to my first child, I remember I was asking too many questions to my mama and elder sister especially when the baby is sick. I’m so thankful to the things they’ve shared, tips in taking care of my baby but I still need more information because as the baby grows you will encounter more exciting things to learn and that will be your guidance for the development of the baby. I am not a perfect mother but I am giving my super best in nurturing my child. Aside from the things that my mama and sister taught me, I also try to research on the internet whenever there are some things that I need to know. I even read a book about practical parenting, cooking for a baby and the first year that covers baby care book in different approach.

In this article, I will share what I’ve learned in those books accompanied with my own experience as a super mommy and will let you read the most necessary information that can help you for the baby care.

A great thanks to my Aunt Belen Raju in Singapore for giving such a wonderful baby books to my sister Sarah and she also shared those baby books to me.
