My DASH weekly weight loss monitoring – Week 2

Week 2 of my DASH diet is not successful. I got sick but it is not because of dieting. A few days ago, I am not feeling well and my voice is hoarse. My throat is painful and I am coughing. It was so hard to deal with this kind of sickness. Now I am better. Because I take medicine, I did not follow my DASH diet. I ate more on fruits but the effect of the medicine makes me crave to eat more.

When I checked my weight it did not change from my past record. Since week 2 is not successful, I will be adding a week to my target date. Instead of ending on February 6 it will now end on February 13 just a day before the Valentines day. I need to accomplish my target before I return to my OB/GYN. This week I will include exercise in a regular routine every morning.

Target weight for week 3: 136 lbs.

Yes! My first week of DASH weekly diet is effective. From what I have mentioned last week about my DASH weekly weight loss plan, I really need to shed pounds. I have learned an effective and top diet solution for 2012 and it is the DASH diet which is a healthier way to weight loss.

Since DASH diet focuses on eating more nutritious foods like fruits and vegetables, I started my week 1 diet with eating more fruits. I also ate less rice and low calorie foods. I think the best way in my first week is eating less rice and eating rice only once a day by lunch time.

My DASH diet weekly weight loss plan

Starting this week I will be on a DASH diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension). I really need to shed those unwanted pounds. I am the type of person who loves sweets and ice cream so this DASH diet is really a  challenge for me. I remember I already tried several personal home made diet plans and it worked for me. This time with the presence of DASH diet, it will be healthier. I am thankful that when I focus and follow eating the right amount of foods, it helps a lot in my weight loss.

I have heard other alternatives for weight loss like taking slimming coffee and slimming pills. In my point of view, I do not want to try this because I found it not healthy for the body. They are effective as I have seen some of my friends who have used it but I think there will be a bad reaction to the body.

This week my goal plan is to cut down my rice intake. I will only eat rice once a day by lunch time and I will always eat more fruits and vegetables.

After several occasions from the Christmas holiday season, most of us gain weight. There are different ways to loose weight and shed unwanted pounds and one of it is the DASH diet. It is the top diets in 2012 that released in the annual list by the U.S. News & World Report. A DASH is the acronym of  Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension that focuses on nutrients like calcium, potassium, sodium along with fiber and protein to decrease high blood pressure which may lead to weight loss.

Eating fruits, veggies, whole grains, lean protein, and low-fat dairy are the requirement for the participants in the DASH diet. Fatty foods, red meat, sweets and salt should be lessen. The DASH eating plan requires no special foods and has no hard-to-follow recipes. I was able to read a guide to DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) by the U.S. department of Health and Human Resources, National Institute of Health and the below are their recommendations. Make these changes over a couple of days or weeks to give yourself a chance to adjust and make them part of your daily routine.

DASH Tips for Gradual Change

  • Add a serving of vegetables at lunch one day and dinner the next, and add fruit at one meal or as a snack.
  • Increase your use of fat-free and low-fat milk products to three servings a day.
  • Limit lean meats to 6 ounces a day—3 ounces a meal, which is about the size of a deck of cards.
  • If you usually eat large portions of meats, cut them back over a couple of days—by half or a third at each meal.
  • Include two or more vegetarian-style, or meatless, meals each week.

DASH diet is truly healthy and effective with a big chance to loose weight. Some found it boring due to the avoidance of sweets and can easily stray off track. I really need to do this DASH diet for a healthier lifestyle.

Mommy weekend task

Its weekend again and it is time for my super mommy routine. Yesterday we visited my little boy’s grandma and we took a relaxing rest at night. Every weekend were special days for us because we treat is as a celebration for our family.

During weekend I usually clean the house and cook something simple but special. Every Sunday we go together to church for the mass then to the mall for the groceries and shopping if I have to buy extra stuff. Being together with your family every weekend brings good bonding and closeness. It makes our family healthy and it is good for the heart.

Annual health examination checklist for mommies

It is best to have an annual physical check-up yearly. Although I am a work-at-home mom, I manage myself to have a yearly health examination. This year I am planning to have my health examination this month.

A few years ago, I remember when I am still working in a company there are free health benefits. There is health card covering check-up, sickness and hospitalization assistance and also some medicare supplements depending on their policy. There is a small monthly deduction from the salary when you enroll an additional person to benefit from the health card.
