Music brings joy and a feeling of hope to everyone who hears it, which is why the www.Singforhope.org organization has created a special “Sing For Hope Pianos Project.” This amazing project, put forth by this innovative non profit organization that puts professional actors and musicians in the places where their talents are needed most (in schools, nursing homes and the subways and streets of New York), is dedicated to bringing music to the New York streets.
For two weeks this summer in New York, www.Singforhope.org is putting uniquely painted street pianos in New York where everyone can play them and enjoy their music. The pianos are being painted by volunteer artists and students who want to share the uplifting spirit of art and music with everyone who sees the pianos. Each piano will come with a tarp so they can be protected in case of rain.
There’s even more to this incredible project, though. Once the “Sing for Hope Pianos Project” is complete, the pianos themselves will be donated to the children of New York City public schools, so they can be used by students on a permanent basis. Yes, it’s an exciting idea, and it is inspired by the love of children who want to learn music.
