Before sharing my “Valentine’s Day Ideas for Kids“, let us answer, Why do we celebrate Valentine’s day? Valentine’s day is widely known as the festivity of expressing love with our loved-ones. A wonderful celebration of showing how much we care for our loved ones. It is a special day where we surprise them with love and excitement. A time where we pause for a while to extend how important our loved-ones is in our lives. A moment to give something sweet to them. An opportunity to spend quality time or bonding time together. There are actually many reasons why we celebrate Valentine’s day. All I can say is “Love”.

If you’re looking for Valentines day ideas for boyfriend, what I suggest is to make it simple. Here in the Philippines where I grew up in a conservative family, men should exert more effort with the Valentine’s day celebration than women. So, what I can suggest is that writing a simple and a sweet love letter to your boyfriend will be memorable to him. Or, you can surprise your boyfriend by cooking his favorite dish on the valentines day.
Valentine’s Day Ideas for Kids
- Colorful Cupcakes. Okay, since I am a mama who can bake (not so perfect) cupcakes, Preparing colorful cupcakes will be a hit with kids. Just make sure to add some heart shapes or reddish toppings for the Valentines theme. Also, for me cupcakes are healthier than chocolates and candies. So, I better make cupcakes and throw a simple Valentines day party for my kids with their friends in the neighborhood.
- Sending a snail mail letter to friends. I got this idea from their school. Writing a friendly letter and sending them through a snail mail to their friend’s home address will surely make them feel special. Imagine a kid receiving a letter. I’ve read from a mommy book that kids easily appreciate tangible things. When they receive a friendly letter, they will be more affectionate and remember that letter. So, let us assist our kids in preparing and sending a letter to their friends. Apart from preparing letters to friends, we can also include making Valentine’s cards or letter for the whole family.
- Spending meal time with grandparents. The restaurants might be fully booked during the Valentines week, so why not celebrate it at home with the kids’ grandparents. You can prepare a delicious and hearty meal for the oldies incorporating the snacks for the youth. It will be fantastic if you will be showing old pictures of you with the kids’ lolo and lola. Looking at the old pictures once in a while is an interesting activity for kids.
Those are my three Valentine’s Day Ideas for Kids. If you’re thinking of Valentines day ideas for husband, well, I cannot think of anything to suggest. Maybe what I am thinking might not work. I love to travel, but my husband don’t want. So, here I am stuck at home. But, soon I will push for my travel adventures with my kids (of course, for as long as I still can while I’m still kicking hehehe). I’m sure I can do it myself. Wish me luck! This Valentines day, I just wanted a me-time (maybe a spa massage and a deep sleep). I would also like to visit my parents and stay for a while to eat and talk to them. I missed them.
