The Lenten season is a perfect time for our life’s reflection and preparation for Easter. Because I am already staying here in Cavite, let me share with you the 7 Churches in Cavite for Visita Iglesia. These churches are rich with beautiful historical background, compiled together with the help of a fellow mom.

7 Churches in Cavite for Visita Iglesia
One of the most popular Holy Week sacred vows or panatas that Filipino Catholics make is to visit at least Seven Churches for Visita Iglesia. The choice of seven as the number of churches to visit was described by many devotees as a reference to the Seven Last Words of Jesus or the Seven Holy Wounds of Jesus. I recall my Visita Iglesia in Manila with my mom where I most likely felt blessed for having a wonderful mom beside me. Some choose to visit 14 churches to match the 14 Station of the Cross, and a few tries to cover even more churches. Members of the Catholic church believe that their prayers will be granted after the stations are complete.
Researcher’s note: Curiosity comes in my mind, how about the Catholic members in the Muslim countries? How they will participate to the panata? of course I will not stop searching until I get the perfect answer to my questions, good thing that the social media are so wide, but then it still gives us the most important information we need and here’s what I’ve found.
The bishops’ conference strongly encourages believers not to make the Visita Iglesia a substitute for the liturgy. The conference has introduced a website, Visita Iglesia Online, to afford overseas Filipino and infirm the opportunity to participate in the tradition and hear recordings of the Pasyon, the Passion.
So, there’s no more excuses not to participate in the Roman Catholic tradition for the Lenten season and speaking of Lenten season, we are excited to know more about the 7 Churches in Cavite for Visita Iglesia. No wonder that Cavite has the most historical places in the Philippines. Here’s my church suggestions for Visita Iglesia.
