February 25, 2015 6 Comments

It is almost summer season! Most of us are excited when summer comes. Children are on school vacation. This season is a perfect time for family bonding and for kids to enjoy enough time in playing. I have list 10 Educational and Fun-filled Summer Activities for Kids that we can look forward to.

10 Educational and Fun-filled Summer Activities for Kids

  1. Biking/ driving or playing traditional outdoor games

Majority of the kids who are studying in school missed the outdoor games. They are only allowed to play outdoor games during P.E. class or with limited time on weekends. The traditional outdoor games that reminds me during my childhood days are playing Patintero, Trumpo, Sipa, Chinese garter, Piko, Luksong baka, Hide and seek, Tumbang Preso, Handkerchief snatching, Siyato game, and Jack-en-poy (rock-paper-scissors). This is going to be so much fun! I’ll be the one to teach the kids on how to play each of these traditional games. Of course, biking is so pop during the summer season.

  1. Sports Clinics

I think enrolling your kids in a sports clinic is a better way if you want them to learn more on the technical side of the sports chosen giving them the opportunity to  move on the proper way of playing a certain sport. With sports clinic, children will be challenge to finish a goal or compete to test what they’ve learned from the sports lesson. After completing the lesson, we may notice that they level-up with their chosen sports.

  1. Music Lesson

Music is known to be a stress reliever. Either a voice lesson or learning a new musical instrument will surely makes our kids relax and have a good benefit on the child’s brain. Musical activities stimulate development in every area of the brain – vision, balance, hearing, speech, behavior, sensation, skill, movement, and emotion. I’ve read this music benefits to kids from http://www.kindermusik.com/.

  1. Practicing Math Skills and exploring Science

Even kids are on vacation; kids can still practice and learn math skills. Enrolling them in Math programs may enhance their skills. The practical and interesting way to practice and teach kids with Math is to let them be a young entrepreneur. I think this is for kids who already know about money and currency. It is important to teach them the value of money and them the basic of how to properly use the money.

In exploring science, as a parent we may choose a certain topic one at a time so that we can explore it to its complex properties. While exploring science, you can make science experiments and projects that give more excitement to kids.

  1. Discovering new places

I think discovering new places are a milestone for the whole family if you travel with your family. Take advantage of knowing the place, culture, people, food, and remarkable spots.

  1. Family Swimming

Of course, we love swimming during summer vacation. Family swimming is more enjoyable. Spending quality time makes the strong emotional bond of a family. This is a great time to communicate well with the whole family especially the kids that may result for kids to be better at school.  This is part of the parenting influences I’ve read at http://www.familyfacts.org/briefs/2/parenting-matters.

  1. Doing Arts and Crafts or Baking Activities

Arts, crafts, and baking are the super relaxing activities that I’ve done together with my kids. With arts and crafts, cutting with the use of scissors and pasting is the simplest thing we did. When we are doing these activities, there is a minute of silence and from there we learn together.

  1. Visiting Museum

Honestly, I find it boring (This is just me). When I talked to my son about museum, he is really excited to visit a museum because he loves history and arts. There is evidence that introduction to the disciplines of art, history and science at a very young age contributes to the development of a child’s identity and builds a foundation for continued and increasingly more complex learning in school and in everyday life. This is what I’ve read from early learning in museums by Mary Ellen Munley.

  1. Practice Reading and Writing

I think it is best for a child to read story books as much as they like during summer vacation. Vocabulary expansion, memory improvement, better writing skills, and improved concentration are some of the excellent benefits in book reading.

Even it is already school vacation in summer; children may practice their writing skills by letting them write a letter to you and you reply with a question. They will definitely answer the questions in another letter.

  1. Completing a Collection

Having is collection hobby does not have to be expensive. The summer season is a perfect time to collect different sea shells, stones, dried flowers, or DIY toys. While collecting, explain to your child to what the collection is all about and its description. There are a lot more things to mention. It depends on your child’s interest and of how you can support him with that interest.

These are my 10 Educational and Fun-filled Summer Activities for Kids. I hope you like it.  Let us make this happen by keeping our family in good health. Keep your kids active and healthy by giving them tamang lusog with Propan TLC multivitamins.

Enjoy the summer!

It depends on what she’s fond of. I think if she loves singing and dancing, then enroll him in a music class. I remember my niece started that age and now she can sing very well. Good luck!
