Introducing Al Qaysar Restaurant and Cafe in Manila

June 7, 2016 40 Comments

Have you dined in at a Mediterranean restaurant? What is the best menu you’ve tasted? Where is this restaurant located? These are some of the questions that I will answer in this post. It’s my pleasure to share my unique Mediterranean dining experience at Al Qaysar Restaurant and Cafe in Manila.  I’m sure this post will enchant you.

Al Qaysar Restaurant and Cafe in Manila entrance

Al Qaysar Restaurant and Cafe in Manila

At the facade, you will notice that something is different in the restaurant. Of course, it is not a typical restaurant because it is in a Mediterranean theme. When I entered, I became more interested as I feel comfortable with the ambiance. There are beautiful pieces of extraordinary things I saw in Al Qaysar Restaurant and Cafe in Manila.

About Al Qaysar Restaurant and Cafe in Manila

The restaurant  is named Al Qaysar, which means “King or Ruler” owned by a Sudanese business man with a Filipina wife. It serves Mediterranean cuisine, American cuisine, Italian cuisine and Seafoods. It recently opened last May 6, 2016.

Meanwhile, Ramadan has already begun last June 6, 2016. It is the ninth month of the Muslim year, during which strict fasting is observed from sunrise to sunset. Since the restaurant also serves American, Italian, and some Filipino dishes, it’s still open during Ramadan. They offer friendly meals who are in this tradition.

For lunch and dinner, they offer budget meals for only PHP 99. You can choose “Menu of the Day”, that includes one meal with rice, soup and water. This is available during weekdays only. Lunch time at 11am- 1pm and dinner time at 5pm – 7pm.

The architectural design of Al Qaysar is amazing. The Mediterranean theme caught my attention that harmoniously blends with modern designs. The wall dividers, tables, chairs and other furniture pieces are beautiful to look at.

Anywhere in the restaurant is clean and neat. The temperature is comforting. The mood lights are relaxing. Because the restaurant is new, the tables and chairs are all pleasant.

Mediterranean-mural

Another eye-catching site inside the Al Qaysar restaurant is the Mediterranean mural on one side of the wall. When you sit beside, it gives you a more feel of the theme. Isn’t it sensational? Seeing this spot where you can see the unusual mural when you dine in, is I think a wondrous place to date someone. Why date here? It is simply unique and non-traditional here in the Philippines. I think it will be remarkable to your date if you bring her to uncommon restaurant that offers a variety of menus with a comfortable ambiance. Then both of you will discover the delicious dishes in this new restaurant.Because the mood is good, you’ll be exchanging your own life stories. Oops! I may sound romantic now just sharing what’s on my mind. 🙂

Let’s view the kitchen area. I am glad that their kitchen is not only big but it is also clean. They have an auspicious kitchen area. Great job!

Al-qaysar-small-function-room

Al-qaysar-small-function-room

They have a small function room that can accommodate 16 persons. They have other plans in this area as well. Look at the walls. Modern brick construction design is consistently on the walls.

Al Qaysar Restaurant family dining

In my perspective, this is Al Qaysar Restaurant family dining area. A table that can fit nine persons to enjoy the meal. It could also be a great place for business meetings.

Al-qaysar-restaurant-function-area

This is the middle part of the open function area of the restaurant. I guess an area for meeting too, eat, and a cool place for a family/ business celebration. Yes, you can spend your birthday, anniversary, or any celebration that you want.

Al Qaysar open function area

I see this more of a recreational area. That you can eat, then you can play, move a lot, and relax with the big bean bag chairs around it.

The Al Qaysar restaurant has an encouraging bar counter top. I saw fresh fruits in the basket on top of the bar counter.

Food and drinks at Al Qaysar Restaurant and Cafe in Manila

Al Qaysar Cocktail drinks

Their cocktail drinks are so refreshing! I got to taste one of their best-selling drink, which is the Pina Colada . My other two mommy blogger friends ordered Freeze electric lemonade and Green Jamaica. These three drinks cost Php 180 each.

Al Qaysar Appetizers

For appetizers, we were given Lentil soup (Php100.00) , mushroom soup (Php 160.00), and Poblano soup (Php155.00). I think all the soup we’ve tasted have their secret Mediterranean herb. What stands out to us is the Lentil soup.  It is very creamy and cheesy. Lentil is one of the healthiest food. It is a good source of protein, fat-free, high in fiber and rich in a number of essential nutrients.

Al Qaysar  fiesta salad

Al Qaysar fiesta salad (Php220.00)

I am a veggie person  so I ate a big part of this fiesta salad. The hand-selected vegetables are crisp and I love the natural juices of the ingredients. It is so vegetarian!

hummus

hummus (Php 150.00)

According to Wikipedia, hummus is a Levantine and Egyptian food dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas or other beans, blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice, and salt. This is so Mediterranean that you have to match it with their bread. I like the taste and texture of their bread. It complements with the hummus.

The restaurant owner taught us that in eating hummus with bread, you have to use your fingers and hands.

Al-qaysar-mixed grilled

Al-Qaysar Restaurant and Cafe Manila -M ixed grilled (Php450)

While eating the bread and hummus, we were encouraged to pick and eat a low calorie mixed grilled too. These are combination of shistawok, kabab lamb and teka lamb.. The taste has a fine blend that you can use with different dips available like hummus, garlic dip, spicy tomato, and the tangy pickles.

Shrimp Quesadilla

Shrimp Quesadilla (Php 299)

Shrimp Quesadilla is my favorite! The filling is so creamy, and have a fine taste perfectly desirable as you munch it.

Chili Garlic Sauce- Shrimp

Chili Garlic Sauce- Shrimp

This Chili garlic sauce shrimp is mouth-watering, so juicy and a bit spicy. The whole medium Shrimp per order cost Php 480.00.

Fettucine-de-roma

Fettucine-de-roma (Php 289)

I love Fettuccine Alfredo! This is why I get excited when I saw this Fettucine de Roma. This is a dish entry for Italian cuisine. I tasted a tinge of butter. A heart healthy pasta best match for drinking cocktails.

Aside from chocolate, I enjoy eating Ice Cream! I love the Velvety Vanilla ice cream in the dessert. The taste of the cheesecake is matched up with the vanilla ice cream.

Fruit-crepe

Fruit-crepe (Php 249)

A combination of fruits folded in the crepe. There are bits of green apples and peaches. It is so fruity! You’ll not get bored while you chew it.

mixed-cup-cake-red-velvet-date -cake

Finally, Mixed cup cake red velvet date cake is the last dessert. What I like from the dessert is that all of it are not too sweet. Just right combination.

I like how spacious the place is and it’s nice to see that there are sections for big parties. The food looks great and if I’m not mistaken, it’s quite affordable too. I was surprised to see non-Mediterranean dishes on the menu, but it doesn’t hurt to have variety!

I honestly haven’t found a well-diversified, ambiance-driven Middle-Eastern restaurant in our country like this one. I find the place very nice and the menu’s the the huge hit for me. Week one of my comeback, we’ll see each other, Al Qaysar!
