Food journalist, television host, culinary researcher, and Filipino food promoter, Ms. Nancy Reyes-Lumen, served as the UCC Competition Director for three (3) years. She said “The Umami Culinary Challenge (UCC) continues to be the “first base” for HRA and culinary school students in the field of cooking competitions. The UCC gives them the confidence and added skills they need to be globally competitive. Thus, the trend continues for UCC to combine the elements of fun and competitiveness with education and knowledge in umami.  Win or lose, the participants walk away with a big smile and a healthy mind. All in all, the UCC was, is and will always be a big “malinamnam success!”

One Hyundai Club Life In Style Event 2012

Last January 14, 2012 my family and I attended the One Hyundai Life In Style event at Glorietta Activity center in Makati.. As what I have mentioned in my post about One Hyundai Club Life in Style event , we enjoyed the cool and fun activities there. The lifestyle corners at the event are beauty and wellness, Dining, shopping, Travel and Leisure and Hyundai World.

My family and I like the travel and leisure corner most. Since I have a three year-old son, we spent time in preparing and decorating  cookies to be baked there. We choose butterfly and heart-shape cookies. I assisted my son  in decorating the cookie with colorful sugar cream toppings and candies. My little boy also enjoyed watching other kids in playing the Wii game. At the beauty and wellness fashion corner, Ms. Tessa Prieto-Valdez was there if you want to ask about fashion. I also meet Ms. Regine Tolentino and his husband who is also present at the event. There is a fashion show at the stage with good looking models.

We stayed there for almost an hour. Big crowd of people attended this big event. I think the space is not enough to accommodate the large volume of people but it was a successful event because many have attended. Before we left the event, we took a nice photo at the photo booth.

Feast of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo

The feast of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo is celebrated every January 9 along with the weekly Friday Novena Masses. Many devotees and those asking for Divine intervention attend the feast of the Black Nazarene. At the feast of the Black Nazarene, the procession commemorates the Traslacion or the transfer of the image to its present shrine in Quiapo. A very popular person that I know who has a great devotion to the Black Nazarene was former Vice President Noli De Castro. Currently, he returned back in Television as news anchor in TV patrol together with Ted Failon and Korina Sanchez.

Quiapo Church where Black Nazarene location can be found

Inside Quiapo Church where Black Nazarene can be found

The Black Nazarene is a life-sized, dark-coloured, wooden sculpture of Jesus Christ, believed to be miraculous by many Filipino devotees. It is known as “Nuestro Padré Jesús Nazareno” in Spanish and “Our Father Jesus Nazarene” in English. The original color of the statue is fair or light complexion and it turned dark after it was exposed to fire on its arrival from Mexico. The Black Nazarene is currently enshrined in the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila, Philippines.

I am not a devotee of the Black Nazarene but I am very faithful to God. When it is the feast of the Black Nazarene, I am so happy to know that many people reached out to God and it reminds me of miraculous stories it brings to different kinds of people, rich or poor.

As a member of the Pinay Mommies Community (PMC), I would like to share that Pinay Mommies Community cares for the victim of Typhoon “Washi”. We take part to help some of the victims of the typhoon Washi /Sendong by giving extra funds to the PMC paypal account.

Support for Typhoon Victim Sendong

Support for Typhoon Victim Sendong

A few of our members in Cagayan De Oro and Iligan City were homeless after Sendong’s devastation due to flash floods that washed out their houses and properties. We, at Pinay Mommies Community opted to rally donations for these families so they could buy food, water or use the fund to rebuild in small ways something that was lost. We can help all the victims through prayers and I am glad to know that there are many people, organizations and businesses who lend their hand in helping the victims in kinds and goods.

If you have something to share for the paypal fund, please send your donations to admin@pinaymommies.com with a Subject: PMC  Cares for CDO.

God Bless us all!
