Motorcycles are one of the most affordable transports that could bring convenience to human. However, this two-wheeled transport doesn’t seem to be a means for travelling but later became a sport, leisure etc. And later evolved because of the uses of people like long-distance travelling, racing, and for off roads. So here are the types of motors that will be briefly discussed.
Cruiser – designed for comfort and looks with straight or relaxed seating position in which it is convenient to recommend from young adult up to middle aged. Choppers are type of cruisers.
Sport bike – this has high foot pegs that makes the legs closer to the body to improve ground clearance when cornering and made for the expense of comfort and fuel economy in comparison to less specialized motorcycles.
Touring – it is built for on-road comfort and continent-cruising ability wherein it can be subdivided further to naked sports, sports touring etc.
- naked sports – it is often a synonym for standard which are admired for its simplicity, quality and versatility
- sport touring – combination of sport bike and a touring motorcycle which is made for comfortable long-distance travel while maintaining a forward-leaning riding position, good handling, and high performance.
On/off Road – it is also called the adventure sport as this endurance often has larger luggage compartments and petrol tanks for long distance trekking. The king of this class is the huge BMW RG1200.
Scooters – reason for the popularity of scooters is because of its cheap running costs and its light-weighted property which I find it comfortable for teenagers.
Underbone – it is a small motorcycle which is a combination of a scooter and a true motorcycle for it has its step-through frame as compared to scooters where your feet is put to rest in a floorboard. The fuel tank is located under the seat.
Mopeds – it has small-engine bikes that also use pedal power to drive the chain which is an efficient ride for getting around town.
Off-road – also known as the dirt bikes which are especially designed for off-road events. They are lighter and have long suspension travel, high ground clearance, wheels have knobby tires and clamped to the rim with a rim lock.
Some motorcycle owners customize their bikes for appearance and performance like the Harley-Davidson owners that uses aftermarket harley davidson parts. If I am a bike owner, I would definitely customize my motorcycle not only for appearance and performance but to make it unique from other bikes.
