Tipid Tips for 2022

August 30, 2022 Leave a Comment

As commodity prices go up and inflation is on the loose, it’s somewhat difficult to keep afloat, especially when your budget doesn’t exactly increase each day.

Tipid Tips

Tipid Tips for 2022

In this regard, you need to ensure you’ll be careful in spending your hard-earned money. Fortunately, there are lots of ways to help you cut back on expenses, as far as food consumption is concerned.

Check out some of the tried-and-tested tipid tips below.

Create your meal plan.

Some people go as far as planning for their meals on a monthly basis. If you can’t keep up with that approach, no worries!

Just go for weekly planning and you’re good to go. Also, save your notes so you can have a reference what meals you’ll prepare for the following week.

This helps avoid repetitive meals in a month (even if it’s everyone’s favorite).

Still having a hard time keeping tabs on what to eat?

Check out these ulam recipes for some innovative ideas.

List down everything you need for the meal plan.

If you’re not the household cook, consult the one in charge of meal preps. Dissect each meal so you know what’s currently available in your fridge and pantry and which ones you should buy soon.

Remember to stick to the list as you do your errands to keep yourself from going out of budget. In this regard, consider going out alone so you won’t be tempted to get extras “just in case”.

Consider using grocery apps as well, especially if you’re trying to buy more time and you’re about to go shopping alone.

Aside from making it easier for you to avoid additional expenses, it helps you save time (you don’t have to go to the store yourself) and money (you only pick what you need).

Buy in bulk.

We can’t stress this tip enough. Buying in bulk is usually more affordable than buying in tingi if you try to compute the commodity per gram in relation to the total price.

Plus, it helps you play an important role in saving the environment because you’ll tend to use up fewer packaging materials in the long run.

Talk about a win-win situation.

If you have credit cards, don’t use them.

This tip is pretty much straightforward, but we’re sure there are still some peeps who would rather swipe the plastic, especially when petsa de peligro is waving.

With that said, only spend what you actually have on hand. This will help you resist temptations of going beyond your means.

Even if you’re a careful spender, it’s more difficult to track expenses if you don’t see the actual costs in real time.

Don’t fall prey to the usual fear of the SoA (statement of account) that the CC company will send by the end of the month.

Cook in large batches.

Cooking in large batches can help you save up more gas (if you’re using the traditional stove) or electricity (if you’ve recently switched to the induction cookers).

Aside from that, doing this can help you save a lot of time because the time-consuming meal prep only happens over the weekend.

After that, all you have to do is to reheat all the cooked food from the weekend and consume these as needed.

Be creative when cooking leftovers.

Having leftovers is inevitable one way or another. Therefore, you need to summon your culinary prowess so you can transform these leftovers into “fresh meals”.

For example, if you have leftover giniling from breakfast, why not create an omelette for lunch or merienda? Pair it with some hot rice or use it as palaman for your pandesal, and you’re sure to fill some tummies real good.

Drink lots of water.

This may be considered one of the most boring stuff if you’re looking to save some money. But this does wonders if you’re also looking to shed some unwanted pounds.

If you drink more water, you avoid having more expenses that you could have spent on flavored drinks, such as powdered juices and softdrinks.

Sugar has also soared prices lately, so this is relevant in a way.

Only do grocery shopping when you’re full.

I’m sure you’ve heard this before: Shopping on an empty stomach can increase your tendencies to pick up more food than what you initially planned.

So, go ahead and have your meal before you run your errands. You’ll thank your past self you followed this tip.

Unleash your inner plantita/plantito.

If you’re not exactly fond of herbs or veggies, now is the time to learn how to do that. If space is an issue, try planting in small containers first and work your way to more diverse plants as you go.

Some edible plants and herbs to try are basils, peppermint, kangkong, and lettuce.

Go for packed meals.

If you’re already required to RTO (sadly), that’s one more reason to save up more money. After all, you need to set aside some budget for transpo fees (if you’re commuting) or gas (if you’re driving).

With that being said, bringing a packed lunch with you helps you save money because you don’t have to pay for meals with ridiculous prices but not as filling.

Packing your own lunch can also be beneficial for your health because you know exactly what you put in your food.

This is especially important if you’re on a strict diet regimen.

Assess your pantry and fridge weekly.

Clean out your ref at least once a week and look for things that you don’t need. You’ll be surprised how many expired condiments or ingredients you have in stock for the longest time.

Discard these things and free your fridge from more space-consuming items that won’t benefit you in the long run.

Aside from giving your ref some breathing room, it can help decrease electricity consumption because your appliance doesn’t have to work as hard to keep everything inside it cool.

As for your pantry, get rid of expired items as well. Check every corner and clean it as you go. Re-organize your essentials so you can get easier access to items you’ll likely use more frequently.

Hold a monthly financial meeting if you’re sharing expenses.

This tip will work if everyone in the household is willing to work on the idea.

Set a date when everyone is available to discuss the expenses. Have a list of the expenses with the corresponding items that you had to buy.

Let everyone take turns in giving feedback and pitching in suggestions on how to better manage the money. At the same time, let them reassess the budget.

Do you need to augment it?

Is it possible to do so?

What specific areas do you need to cut back on so you can get more savings in the long run?

These are just some questions you may raise.

For sure, you can formulate more to make the meeting all the more productive for everyone.

There are a lot of other tipid tips that you can apply that aren’t on this list. Also, you don’t have to implement everything here if it doesn’t work for your household. The key is to make sure everyone agrees with the current setup and will be committed to saving up more money in the long run.
