When you are moving house, it is the perfect tie to lighten your load and get rid of a few things that you no longer need, or which are no longer stylish. The fewer things you have to pack up and move with, the less stressful it will be, and the more organized and calm your new home will be too.
Toss These 4 Things in The Trash
That being the case, here are 4 things you should probably toss when moving house:
- Old clothes
Most of us have closets that are practically bulging with tops, trousers, cute dresses, and endless shoes, and there is nothing wrong with that if we actually wear them all. However, most of us have tons of clothes that we will rarely, if ever, wear, many of which do not even fit us anymore or have holes and other marks that make them useless.
Before you move then, it would be a good idea to organize your closet and toss out any old or unloved clothing so you can create a more stylish wardrobe full of pieces you truly love.
- Unloved art
Now that it is so easy to buy art prints at affordable prices, most of us have lots of canvases, prints, and trinkets around the house and there is nothing wrong with that. However, most of us have a few pieces that we really love and lots of other artworks that we just have around because we think we should or because we used to love them but we no longer do.
If you want to start afresh in your new home and curate a home decor style that you really love, donating those pieces of art that you no longer adore will help you to do so because the pieces you keep will set the tone for the style of your new house, and it sure does make long distance moving easier when you don’t have lots of superfluous stuff to bring along with you for the ride, I’m sure you will agree.
- Unloved appliances
Now is also the perfect time to get rid of that juicer you never use or the ice cream maker you thought was going to change your life but really didn’t. With consumer electronics being so affordable, most of us have picked up many, usually kitchen, gadgets that are rarely used and all they do is take up space. There is no sense paying to transport them to your new home so they can clutter up your new home when you coil simply dispose of them before moving on and start afresh with a cleaner, more minimalist space.
- Worn decor
If your throw pillows and blankets are starting to get a bit threadbare or your couch has seen better days and you no longer love it like you used to, it’s better to get rid of it before you move so you can curate a modern, attractive, and stylish space you love in your new home right from the off.
Make your move easier and toss these four things in the trash.
