My son is not fond of eating rice meals. He prefers to eat biscuits, fruits, vegetables and soup. Our pediatrician recommended Pediasure powdered milk by Abbott for my little boy’s milk. She said that it may help promote growth and sustain the nourishment from not eating the regular rice meals.
When my son reached the age of one, I started to give him Pediasure. He really loves the taste of the milk. I also tried to examine the milk and I found out that is has a good taste and a good smell. No wonder why my child loves to drink it but the problem that I encountered is my son’s bowel movement. He always has a constipation even if I tried to adjust the level of milk scoops. I tried Gain under Abbott also and still the same. My little boy doesn’t want any other milk, so I keep Pediasure as his milk drink. For the ease of his bowel movement, I usually offer him fibrous foods like papaya, mango, yakult and also foods with coco milk.
Now that he is turning three this year I tried to replace his milk but the problem is that he didn’t want to drink other milk brands. I almost tried six different milk brands and I ended up making polvorons. I would really like to replace his milk to a lower price milk so we can save extra money. Since he doesn’t want any other milk brand, I decided to give him the Pediasure Plus.
The Pediasure Plus is for children above three years old. Since my little boy is already turning three this year I decided to give him this kind of milk. When compared to the first pediasure vanilla powdered milk that my son drink, the pediasure plus has the same good taste and smell. The nutritional contents on the label are almost the same with a little more nutrients found Pediasure Plus. Also, the Pediasure Plus has more fibers because my son’s bowel is not that constipated compared to the first milk that we tried.
Overall, Pediasure Plus is a good recommendation of my pediatrician because it helps my son to be healthy, bright, active and thank God that even he is not fat or a big toddler, he is not prone to sickness.
Please share your toddler’s milk experience here. Thank you.

My kid is a picky eater, and I have been toying with the idea of giving her Pediasure, but its cost dissuades me :).
It’s good that your son’s body has adjusted to Pediasure Plus.

I guess there comes a time in every child’s life, especially toddlers, that they became picky eaters. That’s why it’s important to still give them milk to properly nourish them.

after a bout of the rota virus, my son lost 2.5kg… his pedia said that the best way for him to recover is to drink Pediasure… Although there are no effects yet (1 week na), I remain hopeful… based on your entry, did you mean to say that your child did not gain any weight at all???thanks…

Hi Cez,
He did gain weight but still he is not that fat. Now my son is four years old and he is very bright and active.

Is it advisable for a 12 and 15 year old with lactose intolerance for everyday milk?
Jem Alvarado says
Hi Elvira,
For medical reasons, it is best to consult your pedia or doctor. There are milk brands that are lactose-free.
