I know most parents would like their child to excel in school. Is there a secret or a formula? I was about to find out while I support my child’s schooling. He did well in nursery being fourth honour in the class and first honour in kinder. Now, he is in grade 1. He is too young and I want him to enjoy while we study so I did something interesting. I think that what I did is good to consider as memory improvement techniques for children.
Educational Posters are helpful. You can simply buy these things from a bookstore or educational supplies and post it on the wall or anywhere in the house where you study. With this children can easily identify and remember the words or figures in the poster. This is the concept that I use in creating reviewers and study materials for my child the difference is that I make use of color pens, carbon paper, long bond paper, string and a clothes pin. This works well as a memory improvement techniques for my young student. On a long bond paper, I personally make a reviewer or study material. To make it more interesting, I use color pens for letters, words, and photos that needs some highlights if I need to point out important subjects in the poster.
Here’s what I did as a memory improvement technique for my child:
- I attached a long string on the wall of our study area that looks like a clothes line. This is where I hang the reviewers or study materials that I make for my young student.
- For every lesson or chapter, I summarize the important things that my son needs to remember and understand by writing it briefly on a long bond paper then hang it. Make sure that it is visible to look and interesting not boring. Use color pens if you are writing it or Three to four color highlights and objects when printing it.
- At the study room, I also let my son play his favourite toys like Lego, Super Hero’s Action figure, etc. When I leave him inside the room, while he is playing, there is always a chance for him to look around and read the things that were hang or posted on the wall. This way, he will remember the things that we studied.
The advantage of hanging the interesting reviewers or brief study lessons using a long bond paper on a string is that it is very easy to pin it on the wall. You do not have to use adhesives and you can quickly set aside the bond paper and hang it back again for review. If you need a removable and reusable adhesive, I recommend using Tack-it Faber-Castell Removable Adhesive. I just use this to stick the string on the wall. This memory improvement techniques using a pin and a string to hang educational lesson or reviewers seems to be working in a positive way with my child particularly on subjects that needs some illustrations. I observed that my child would react and became more interested when we study his lessons using this way.
