We love singing together! This is one of our family bonding activity that is surely a hit to my children. Now that we are fast-approaching the Christmas season, I am thinking of singing the Christmas carols with my children as our bonding activity at home when it is already on Christmas vacation. Kids are very much interested about Christmas and they are so joyful to know more about this special occasion. Gifts, Toys, Santa Claus, Jesus Christ, Snowman, and Rudolph the red nose reindeer are some of the words that my six-year-old son keeps on asking me to describe for him. What I did is sing the Christmas carols then he sings with me. I think that singing the Christmas carols together with my son enhances his multiple intelligence.
Most kids can easily remember the tune and some lyrics of the song the moment they hear it repeatedly. This is what I observed from my son. He would ask me to elaborate on some words particularly on unfamiliar words that he wants to know more. It will be an endless question and answer so I guess singing the Christmas Carols is a bright and fun idea to give your child a better description about Christmas.
In singing the Christmas carols, I suggest you play the song with videos and lyrics. If you do not have a videoke at home, why not play it using youtube online. There are hundreds of Christmas carol video songs for children available in youtube. At home, we started seeing new Christmas carol videos for kids as early October. Singing Christmas song is more enjoyable if you sing it together with your child. It enables him in becoming brain smart by learning new words related to Christmas and discovering different images of what these words look like.
While singing the Christmas carols, we either dance or use a musical instrument. A popular musical instrument for Christmas Caroling is the use of tambourine. Dancing or playing a musical instrument while singing a Christmas carol allows my child in becoming body smart as he figures out the right timing with dancing and playing the tambourine in tune with the song.
Subsequently, with a family bonding activity of singing the Christmas Carols together, it helps my child in becoming people smart by showing what he mastered to his grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. This is a wonderful Christmas presentation for the whole family.
How about you? What are your activity plans for your child this holiday season that enhances Multiple Intelligence?
My children loves Christmas. As early as September (waa so early) when I am decorating our little Christmas tree, they are helping me out and they are starting to sing, Jingle bells 🙂 Kahit pa-bulol nakakatuwa lang and I always tell them what Christmas is all about. Sharing and giving love and most especially celebrating with Lord God. Well, hindi ko pa man sabihin na i-open ang video pang Christmas nauunahan na nila ako 🙂
our children are lucky they are born in the videoke age….. back in our time, most of us probably had atleast one Christmas song which lyrics we do not really know, yet we sing them out loud.. those mangled lyrics and funny mondegreens… hehe and yes I believe they do build multiple intelligence.. I guess singing songs with the family in general, growing up with good music… makes children’s EQs
This is one of our activity in advent calendar “Play festive Christmas songs and dance”. My son had fun too.
We love singing at home. Even made-up songs. We will be spending the holidays singing carols with the lolos and the lolas in Bacolod.
My eldest loves to sing. A few days ago, i overheard her singing Jingle Bells and 12 Days of Christmas since she saw in on YouTube. I was so impressed that she memorized the lyrics already, although some words are still bulol 🙂
Oh perfect because we’re going Christmas carolling here in the village next week! Right now, Frozen songs muna duet namin haha
Our whole family loves to sing. We’re very musical people. I actually sing Christmas carols with my kids too and like you I do it while playing Youtube videos of the songs. 🙂
Great idea, I love singing! Sometimes I sing to my 11-month old son and he falls asleep to my singing. As early as now, I observed that he stops whatever he’s doing whenever he hears a song on TV. Talagang iba ang nagagawa ng music sa kids, ano?
Yes, music is so pleasing and a good kind of relaxation too.
We love singing and listening to Christmas carols too.. even if its not Christmas Season.. music is also a bonding activity for me and my daughter.. she introduces me to her fave music and vice versa
Yes, singing is a great bonding for parents and child.
Singing together makes it easy for my grade-schooler to memorize the songs’ lyrics. Whenever we sing a Christmas song, my son always requests “10 Days of Christmas.” He loves it when we sing it fast. We always end up laughing and catching our breaths. Lol!
Yes, I love 12 days of Christmas – it was so fun to sing with the kids 🙂
My daughter also loves singing as much as I do. As early as 2yrs old, she already knows how to sing. Frozen’s Let it go is still her favorite song up to now. lol She also loves to dance when she watches youtube videos or anything fun on the tv. ^^
Christmas carols are a great way to bond and learn as well. There are so many out there and I have some of my own beloved carols from my childhood. It’s nice to share it with the children.
It really did! Well actually, my third son who was the shyest of them all, got some confidence and serenade our village haha
