What is the update on our Home Extension project? It was almost three weeks since the project started. Sharing with you the progress.
First, we started with a proposed three storey house with roof deck published at Home Extension Project Plan. Our default house was built ready for any house expansion plans.
I recall that while the contractor build the gate of our home more than five years ago, he suggested to set the materials for post ready for house extension. Now that it is time to do the extension, the civil engineer who is the contractor of our house was happy to continue with the plans.
We talked several times and draw our project plans which he use as a basis of the floor plan and added some structure to it.
Second, the beginning week of the project is the preparation of the posts and construction of the second floor slab.
The second floor area is mainly our family and entertainment area. Husband and I took a photo on one of its part. Before building the slab, the engineer make sure that we approved all the position of the electrical for the sockets and lighting, and I also requested a cute lavatory at the second floor. We also finalize the location of the stairs.
Third, the retrofitting of the second floor slab extension to the main house. This phase was the most challenging part of the project. The contractor need to do chipping at some of the main house beam to connect the beam bars of the house extension to it. More on the works on the ceiling and roofing that are affected.
In preparation of the third floor slab, they are making the support structure. Since it retrofits with the main house, a small interior at the edge of the hallway and part of the room of my son was affected.
To protect the floor tiles from possible debris and some dripping when they construct the third floot slab, we spread out old tarps and used boxes on the floor.
Moreover, they have a lot to do for the preparation of the third floor slab and retrofitting. One tough work in the second floor is the construction and installation of the stairs.
That’s all for now. Praying for God Almighty for the stength, guidance, and provisions to successfully finish the house extension project.
Stay tuned for my next Update about Retrofitting and Third Floor Slab Progress. Also, I’ll prepare a post about “How much is roughly the cost of our house extension project?”.
