It is best to have an annual physical check-up yearly. Although I am a work-at-home mom, I manage myself to have a yearly health examination. This year I am planning to have my health examination this month.
A few years ago, I remember when I am still working in a company there are free health benefits. There is health card covering check-up, sickness and hospitalization assistance and also some medicare supplements depending on their policy. There is a small monthly deduction from the salary when you enroll an additional person to benefit from the health card.
My plan checklist for health examination: (recommended for mommy)
- Papanicolaou test (Pap smear) – it is a screening test used in gynecology to detect premalignant and malignant (cancerous) processes in the endocervical canal (transformation zone).
- Physical examination
- Urinalysis – a test used to detect and measure various compounds that pass through the urine.
- Fecalysis – tests done on fecal samples to analyze the condition of a person’s digestive tract in general.
- Chest X-ray – is a projection radiograph of the chest used to diagnose conditions affecting the chest, its contents, and nearby structures.
- CBC (complete blood count) – is used as a broad screening test to check for such disorders as anemia, infection, and many other diseases
- Blood Test (lipid profile) – a test that measures both HDL and LDL levels along with total cholesterol. It will help the doctor evaluates patient’s risk factor or heart disease.
The seven test that I mentioned above is really my plan for the checkup but before I start the test I will keep myself fit and healthy. I will shoulder my health examination expenses because I am an independent contractor which has no health benefits compared to regular employees. I am planning to continue my Philhealth contribution because it has a good health program and not expensive. Like in the US, certain people and families with low income relied more on medicaid.
Thank you so much for this great webite! It is very informative.
