Last August 26, 2012, Philips AVENT, the number one brand recommended by moms treat mothers and their babies to a one-of-a-kind interactive exhibit at the TriNoma Mall in Quezon City. It features a variety of activities celebrating the different stages of motherhood wherein the exhibit have three areas: Baby Bump for pregnant moms, New Baby for moms with young children up to 18 months, and Growing Baby for mothers with toddlers.

Philips Avent From pregnancy to playground passport
I arrived in the event at around 1:30PM by which the program just started a few minutes ago. The photo above is my Philips Avent passport. I have visited some exhibit areas and finally sat down to listen to the speakers in the program.
Helpful information and tips that I have learned from the Speakers:
The first speaker who shared a very helpful talk is Dra. Georgia Remulla for oral health care talk.
Things we should do for children’s oral health care:
- Begin the dental checkup for our children at the age of 1 year old
- Brush two minutes, 2x a day.
- Use a small amount of regular adult toothpaste for children instead of the kiddie toothpaste because an adult toothpaste contains Fluoride that are healthy for the teeth and gums.
- Limit the prolonged exposure of your children’s teeth to bacteria by brushing their teeth before bedtime, not letting babies or toddlers drink bottled milk until they sleep and wipe their teeth with a clean cloth or towel after drinking milk before bedtime.
The second speaker is Ms. Jamie Pizarro who talked about Baby Sign Language.
In a brief summary, she discussed the most common baby sign gestures that helps the baby to communicate, want, feel and thinking in a way parents understand and meet the needs of infants and toddlers long before they can speak. Some of the the baby sign gestures that I have learned in the talk are the baby signs for the milk, water, daddy, mommy, more, cat, dog, etc. The benefits of using baby sign language: it empowers children because they can communicate successfully with those around them, helps baby learn to talk, Jumpstarts intellectual development.
I would really love to finish the program and other informative discussions but I have a family appointment that day so I just continue to visit the other exhibit areas. After the second speaker, I went to other exhibit areas and found interesting activities.

Philips Avent – pregnancy to playground areas
In the Baby Bump area, you can find a Belly Cast art exhibit by the artist, Mimsy. Perfectly capturing this interesting stage of a woman’s life, each belly cast tells a mother’s unique journey including Neva Santos, Chiara Datu, Isobelle Camacho, Barni Alejandro, Ayse Trifyllis, and Polly Fong. Each belly cast will be accompanied by a pregnancy portrait executed by photographer Stanley Ong.
Expectant moms got a chance to capture this most wonderful phase of their lives with pregnancy portraits by professional photographers, which Philips Avent has offered for free in the event. If mom is not ready for her camera moment, then she can write a letter to her unborn baby at Mommy Mailbox in the comforts of a nursery room with soothing classical music. The letters will be published online in the Mommy Steps website which I did 🙂 .
In the New Baby area, you can find a feature breastfeeding area with an educational booth showing the different parts of the breast and how lactation happens, a breastfeeding lounge where moms can nurse in private, and a breastfeeding consultation desk to be manned by LATCH, a breastfeeding support group. Moms and their kids may also enjoy special bonding moments as they create wonderful bib art. (Due to a numerous participants in creating wonderful bib art, I was unlucky to create one because it was out already when I visited the area).
Lastly, there is the Growing Baby area which gives families a lot of opportunities for fun while being served fruit and vegetable smoothies from the juice bar. They can either make scrapbook pages, color Truman the rabbit or head to the play area courtesy of Gymboree. As a special treat, moms can get lovely makeovers from Goody’s beauty experts.
In the midst of these activities is the Mom’s Best Choice Exhibit revealing the results of a groundbreaking survey** where Philips Avent came out as the number one brand recommended by mothers. Beautiful product displays with relevant product information will be on display throughout the day.
Making this event even more informative for expectant moms are talks by childbirth educator Lin Fernando of Philippine Association for Childbirth Education, baby sign language instructor Jaymie Pizarro, breastfeeding consultant Dra. Pat Kho, and Philips Avent Brand Ambassador Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan.

My problem is, Dindin still doesn’t know how to gargle and spit at this time. That is why we don’t use fluoride toothpaste for her. 🙁
